The Manor House
For the Lord and his family, life in a manor house was comfortable. Though it did not have the comforts of a modern house. The Lord and his family did have privacy from the workers. For the workers a winter's night would have had been very cold and uncomfortable. In some manor houses there would be one large fire for the workers who had to sleep on straw. The estate workers worked from sunrise to sunset. The size of the manor house depended on the wealth of the Lord but usually consisted of a great hall, solar, kitchen, storerooms and servants quarters.
